On 5th November, HDS had the pleasure of welcoming the Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir for an inspiring and joy-filled day of music, culture, and collaboration.

Throughout the day, choir members worked with our students in a series of vibrant workshops.  Students learned traditional dance steps, explored the rhythms of East African drumming, and even learnt some of the choir’s uplifting songs.  The energy, warmth, and talent of the visiting performers created a wonderfully inclusive atmosphere, and our students fully embraced the opportunity to try something new.

In the afternoon, the choir gave a lively performance to Year 7 students, showcasing their incredible vocals, dynamic choreography, and infectious spirit.  A highlight was seeing HDS students (and staff) invited up to join the choir for a couple of songs - an unforgettable experience that brought smiles all round.

The day concluded with an evening performance for families, friends, and members of the community, rounding off a truly memorable visit.  We are grateful to the Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir for sharing their culture, talent, and enthusiasm with us, and we look forward to welcoming them back in the future.
