The Restaurant

The Restaurant is open before school for breakfast, at break time for a mid-morning snack, and of course at lunch time. In addition to the traditional hot meal, students can also buy sandwiches, pasta, salad, and much more!

The set lunchtime menu follows a three-week rotation so students are always guaranteed varied, healthy and tasty food!

Humphry Davy School 16 Oct 2024 Year 7 camp was so much fun last week! The students enjoyed a variety of activities whilst getting to know one another and making new friends. Camp is always a great way for our new cohort to start settling into life at HDS and it is just lovely watching their confidence grow day by day.

Humphry Davy School 14 Oct 2024 Year 7’s have all chosen their free ‘Bookbuzz’ book to take home and keep. They will receive these later this term. All 16 titles will also be available to borrow from HDS library. A free book is a wonderful way to welcome all our new Year 7’s to our school!

Humphry Davy School 10 Oct 2024 On Friday 27th September, a small group of Year 8 students attended The North Cornwall Book Festival, along with other Cornish schools, at St. Endellion near Port Isaac. There were some fantastic authors to entertain and inspire the students with talks and workshops. These included Gina Blaxill, Joanne Nadin and Clare Furniss. A free book from the bookshop was provided for every student, courtesy of Seasalt. It was an amazing day and our students shone at being engaged, imaginative and articulate as well as enjoying the range of workshops on offer! Student Fred wrote this review of the day: "My favourite thing about the festival was the range of topics and tasks, for example Gina Blaxill did a task where you wrote a plot for a murder mystery, whereas Joanna Nadin did a task where you had to guess a book based on their first lines. I also enjoyed the range of books they had to buy and loved that they gave you a voucher to use to get a free book of your choice. I had my books signed by the authors which was amazing, and I am reading them all now."

Truro College is hosting a dedicated Post-16 Options Evening at 5pm on Tuesday, October 15 that might be just for you. The evening will focus on learning about the choices open to young people after school and understanding the diverse range of pathways on offer, including A Levels, T Levels, the International Baccalaureate (IB), Technical and Vocational programmes and Apprenticeships. Humphry Davy School 7 Oct 2024 Students in Longya and Kemeneth houses headed off this morning for the first of three HDS Year 7 camps! They have had a great day so far and are looking forward to their overnight stay in Plymouth Aquarium! Enjoy everyone.

Humphry Davy School 7 Oct 2024 Huge congratulations to student Daisy who successfully auditioned to be part of the Hall for Cornwall’s Panto this year – Jack and the Beanstalk. 130 young Cornish hopefuls auditioned to bag dream roles in major HfC pantomime with only 18 successful candidates! Wow! What an incredible achievement! The Cornwall Playhouse Production opens on 6th December and will be seen by 35,000 people. Tickets are on sale now so be sure to book yours and see our rising HDS star in action! Break a leg Daisy!

Humphry Davy School 26 Sep 2024 A wonderfully creative group of HDS students has been working very hard to put together a unique exhibition experience, with the help of the fantastic team at Penlee museum. We cant wait for the launch of the 'Quail Trail' on Tuesday 8th October and you're invited!

Humphry Davy School 25 Sep 2024 HDS music students were treated to an incredible performance from the Prussia Cove String Quartet yesterday. It was very inspiring - particularly for our GCSE composers who witnessed violins being played with thimbles, and instruments simulating the sound of a helicopter! Humphry Davy School 23 Sep 2024 With a passion for military police, Aaron studied the perfect course at Penwith College to secure his dream career. 🙌 From a young age, Aaron always knew he wanted a career in the police, but it’s mainly through the Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services that he has been able to fine-tune where he wanted to specialise in. Aaron, who previously attended Humphry Davy School, talked about his experience in education: “I think all throughout my education I’ve had a good idea of what I want to do and have been persistent with the police route for ages.” The Protective Services course has been a great eye opener for Aaron, filled with exciting expeditions, inspiring guest speakers and valuable trips to local employers. The course allows students to step outside of their comfort zone, meet new people and experience personal growth. Students can overcome personal challenges and see improvements with their confidence, health and mindset. Having former public service professionals as the course lecturers brings a wealth of experience to the course, greatly benefiting the students and their progression after College. Aaron said: “The trips were very interesting, particularly the trip we took to HMS Raleigh. We got to see around the navy base and what they do up there.” Many former Public Services students return to the College to speak with current students about their careers and the path they took to achieve their positions. Aaron found these guest speakers particularly inspiring, as they provided valuable insights to the essential skills and career routes. This experience has solidified Aaron’s aspirations to join the RAF Police with the aim to transition to the civilian police force after a number of years. For students aspiring to follow a similar career path, Aaron highly recommends this course as the optimal choice. Aaron also said: “Going from a secondary school to a college can be a big change because there are loads more people. But you’ve got to meet new people, get out of your comfort zone and you can make good friends here at Penwith College.”
