The Year 7 Boys recently competed in their very first Indoor Cricket tournament, and what a debut it was! With many of the boys playing cricket for the first time, they showed fantastic effort, teamwork, and determination throughout.
Every student played their part in batting, bowling, and fielding, earning themselves a well-deserved place in the finals.
Well done boys, keep it up and good luck!

Last Tuesday, our Year 8 Boys’ football team hosted the first round of the cup. The boys played brilliantly, staging a spirited comeback from being 2 – 1 down to secure a fantastic 4 – 2 win.
A huge well done to our Player of the match, Jack, who netted two goals, and Kirby who secured the other to seal the win.
This fantastic result sees the team progress to the next round. Best of luck boys! We’re all cheering you on!

On Tuesday 13th January, our Year 7 girls took part in their first indoor cricket tournament. Some of the team had never played cricket before but thoroughly enjoyed themselves, winning both of their games!
A special mention goes to the team captain, Flo, who hit an incredible 23 runs in one over! The girls learned new skills and all played a massive part in their success.
They will now play in the finals later this term. Well done girls and good luck!

With the countdown to our musical well and truly underway, three of our talented students, along with music teacher Mr Street, visited BBC Radio Cornwall on Friday to chat about their upcoming roles in Bugsy Malone.
The students were interviewed by presenter Neil Caddy and enjoyed an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the studios - a great experience that they absolutely loved! They simply couldn’t hide their excitement and enthusiasm ahead of their opening night on Thursday 12th February.

Finishing off this year’s Christmas Card countdown and taking first place is this beautiful piece from Eva in Longya House. This stunning painting perfectly captures this year’s theme, ‘Christmas at the Harbour’. We love the little Humphry Davy boat and the use of silver pen for the ripples and the moon’s reflection. A magical Christmas Eve, complete with cold-water swimmers - perfectly Cornish! Well done, Eva, a well-deserved winner!
A huge well done to everyone who took part in our house competition this year - your card creations have brought so much Christmas cheer each day!

2nd place goes to Katelyn from Medra House! This cosy window scene is full of festive charm! We’re imagining that mug filled with hot chocolate (or a warming cup of tea!) as the subject gazes out onto a crisp winter night.
The little proposal happening in one of the boats? Absolutely magical — who doesn’t love a Christmas proposal! Well done!

The HDS Christmas Concert did not disappoint on Monday! After weeks of rehearsals, our talented students lit up the stage with stunning choir performances, brilliant solos, and plenty of Christmas cheer. From start to finish, the evening was filled with confidence, talent, and festive spirit, ending perfectly with a full stage performance of ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’.
Well done to all our amazing students - thank you for a wonderful evening!

Taking the bronze is Flora from Medra House! Your Christmas crab has so much character, and we just adore him! The bright, bold colours, clever shading, and fun typography make this piece truly stand out. Congratulations on 3rd place, Flora.

Happy Birthday, Sir Humphry Davy!
We had a wonderful time celebrating with the Penzance community at the annual lantern parade on Friday. It was a chilly but dry evening - ideal conditions for our Science Ambassadors to proudly showcase their handmade lanterns. Joining them this year were our music students, who performed a magical selection of Christmas tunes at the Humphry Davy statue for all to enjoy.
After a short address, we loved hearing everyone come together to sing “Happy Birthday.” Thank you Penzance Council for another lovely community event.
