Starting Your Teaching Career at HDS
At Humphry Davy School we want to support the development of our teachers but also support and train those looking to become teachers.
If you are interested in training to become a teacher then you can contact our Professional Tutor, Rebecca Stuteley on rstuteley@humphry-davy.cornwall.sch.uk
We have partnerships with the following providers with different routes into teaching:
Cornwall School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT)
SCITT has been awarded “Outstanding” status by Ofsted, recognising the highest quality of teacher training provision. A distinctive feature of this school-led training is that the course is focused on carefully staged and appropriately supervised practical classroom experience within at least two partner institutions, which is further supported by academic study sessions focusing on extending professional skills and knowledge. These take place at our base at Truro College, with subject-specific sessions held at a number of our partner schools.
Plymouth Marjon University Teacher Education Partnership is a well-established partnership between the University and schools in the South West, London and Service Children’s Education. It is a values-based collaborative partnership that ensures excellent outcomes for pupils, trainees and teachers.
