Yesterday evening we had the great honour of lighting a beacon to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee!

It was great to have so many members of our community in attendance!

Guests were welcomed with drinks and nibbles, before a formal address was given by Bill Marshall (Headteacher), reflecting upon service to one's community and creating a culture of aspiration for all - values shared by HDS and her Majesty the Queen.

Following this, those gathered were treated to a moving vocal performance from three of our brilliant choristers.

At 9.45pm, guests raised their glasses in a toast to the Queen, and the beacon was lit by Kate Finch (former teacher and current HDS governor).

What a wonderful sight...and what a very special and memorable evening!

We now look forward to continuing the celebrations on Saturday at the Great Communi-Tea Party in Morrab Gardens.  Be sure to join us from 11am to watch our dancers perform on the bandstand!
