Hair and Beauty Taster SessionsPosted on: 29/03/2022
A group of Year 10 students have been visiting Penwith College for taster sessions in their Hair and Beauty department over the past few weeks. The students have been learning all about the industry and the array of professions that they could progress into. They have been given the opportunity to explore a range of different aspects including nail art, styling hair and massage and have been really excited to get stuck in!
For their nail art session the students learnt how to create different designs using techniques such as marbling, foiling and striping. In their second session, they explored hair styling where they worked together to recreate a ‘Mohican Braid’. After a quick demo the students took it in turns to try out the style on each other to perfect the design. We were super impressed with their outcomes! Their last session was to learn different techniques in the art of massage, including 'effleurage'. This was another great session where our students continued to broaden their understanding of working within the Hair and Beauty industry (even if most enjoyed being the 'client' just as much as learning!) - a truly relaxing end to our series of taster sessions!
We have really enjoyed finding out more about Hair and Beauty at Penwith College, and it has given our students much food for thought as they start to consider what they would like to do when they leave school!
