Humphry Davy School24 Jun 2022Last week, with the sun shining brightly, we were delighted to plant a commemorative tree to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Our Jubilee dancers, having just returned from a filming session in Morrab Gardens, assisted Headteacher, Mr Marshall, with the planting.
We look forward to watching the beautiful tree grow with our students over the coming years…and we are very much looking forward to being accompanied by our dancers at Mazey Day tomorrow.
Be sure to join us for the 11am and 3pm parades! We’ll be sending out updates throughout the day!
Humphry Davy School17 Jun 2022Our Year 11 students had their last English exam on the 10th June and celebrated with some 'book themed' treats. This included some ‘Lord of the Flies’ cupcakes made by Miss Fairweather. How tasty do they look? Well done Year 11!

Humphry Davy School7 Jun 2022A talented and dedicated group of students from Year 7 joined others in Morrab Gardens at the weekend to participate in the Penzance Council Communi-Tea party as part of their Jubilee celebration!
Together with Penzance Guizers and The Big Dance Company a series of Cornish Dances and modern twists were performed on the bandstand. We were so proud of the confidence our students displayed and we couldn’t have been prouder to have them representing our school at such a pinnacle event.
Lighting our very own beacon on Thursday 2nd June was just another way our school community could get involved to say ‘Thank you ma’am’ for the years of service and dedication our Queen has given our country.
What a wonderful weekend it was.
Humphry Davy School3 Jun 2022Yesterday evening we had the great honour of lighting a beacon to mark the Queen's Jubilee!

Humphry Davy School25 May 2022Year 10 geography students visited St Ives this half term to carry out their geography fieldwork in both the human and physical aspects of geography.
The aim of the day was for students to prove or disprove two hypotheses – “The changing beach profile affects the properties at St Ives” and “The Wharf area of St Ives should be pedestrianised”. With both staff and students eager to get outside and learn in the field, a great time was had by all.
All students represented HDS to the highest of standards and many members of the public commented on their attitudes and engagement during their fieldwork. Well done Year 10!
Humphry Davy School23 May 2022Tomorrow night HDS Music presents its Summer Showcase celebrating the hard work and musicianship of our wide range of ‘unamplified’ ensembles at The Zennor Theatre at Penwith College. Humphry Davy School23 May 2022Congratulations to the 21 Year 10 students who successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s practice expedition. Even with tired legs and aching feet, it is clear that everyone enjoyed their weekend of walking and camping out, dining on culinary delights such as ‘fried Soreen loaf’! All the groups showed great determination and resilience, and we look forward to hearing how you get on when you head to Bodmin Moor! Meanwhile, Bronze Award students have completed first aid training, map reading theory, an evening map reading walk, and training on putting up tents and using the trangias to cook super noodles! Nice work everyone.
Humphry Davy School19 May 2022On Monday, a group of Year 9 students had the opportunity to tour the Falmouth University campus to find out more about university life. Our students explored the facilities available and spoke with student ambassadors about a range of topics from study facilities, accommodation, finances and social life (including 250 societies!) - everything that makes up life as a uni student at Falmouth! They also had the opportunity to participate in an architecture and sustainability challenge and have left with a much better idea of what the university pathway could mean for them.
