The Wizard of ODD!

Posted on: 16/12/2019

Young actors and actresses across all year groups have been practising all year, developing and rehearsing for the brilliant HDS Christmas panto. This year’s production was a take on the classic story, ‘The Wizard of Oz’, with the team deciding their play would be entitled ‘The Wizard of Odd’!

All the students worked extremely hard putting together a funny and engaging panto for their performances this December. Performing three times in total, this group of students have certainly earned a well-deserved Christmas break!

With brilliant stage presence, stunning vocal solos, musical performances and breath-taking dance moves this year’s show did not disappoint! The audience’s reactions were priceless as the laughter rang around the school gym. The first performance was a matinee for a collection of local primary school pupils who were beaming with joy; they couldn’t take their eyes off our fantastic stars! The students performed their play twice more, across two evenings, to an audience filled with family and friends. The show was such a brilliant way to get into the festive spirit with all who attended heading home full of festive cheer.

The talent and courage our students displayed across all the performances was outstanding. It takes a tremendous amount of bravery to get up on stage in front of such a large crowd but our students showed no fear as they performed their characters to an incredibly high standard. Everyone was so impressed by the characters they produced, with comments such as, “that backflip was awesome!” and “Toto the dog was so funny” being heard as people exited the school gym.

You should all be very proud of yourselves, it was a fantastic show! Special thanks go to Mr Bosworth, Miss Kleiman and their team of musicians who added to the atmosphere, showcasing their fabulous talents during the musical numbers throughout the production. Huge congratulations to everyone involved, you put on a spectacular show and we cannot wait to see your names in lights!
