Feel Good Fair
Posted on: 04/07/2025HDS recently held its highly anticipated Feel Good Fair, bringing together an inspiring mix of health and wellbeing professionals to support students in improving both their physical and mental health. The event, held in collaboration with Healthy Cornwall, was a vibrant celebration of positivity, self-care, and community support.
In the week leading up to the event, Mrs. Oliver, Deputy Headteacher, delivered a series of assemblies to all year groups. These assemblies focused on top tips for looking after mental health; sharing valuable resources and encouraging students to seek support when needed. Mrs. Oliver helped to normalise the fact that life can sometimes throw us curveballs — and that it’s okay to ask for help when things feel tough. Her messages set a reflective and supportive tone for the week, laying the foundation for the fair itself.
On the day of the fair, every single class visited the event and had the opportunity to engage with a wide range of professionals offering expert advice and support. Whether it was about eating well, looking after your teeth, staying active, coping with stress and anxiety, or coping with loss and bereavement - students could explore areas of health and wellbeing that mattered most to them.
The organisations attending included: Healthy Cornwall, YZUP, School Nurse, HeadStart, Active Cornwall, Police, Penhaligon’s Friends, Smiles Together, Fire Service, Stop Smoking, Kooth and our new team of community wellbeing practitioners.
These professionals brought a wealth of knowledge and a friendly face to important topics, helping students to explore their own wellbeing in a relaxed and engaging environment.
As part of the fair, students also enjoyed trying out the school’s brand new outdoor gym. This exciting addition to the Enys centre grounds was a popular feature of the day, giving students a chance to have fun, get moving, and experience the mental boost that comes from being physically active.
The Feel Good Fair was a fantastic reminder of how small steps — from asking questions to trying a new workout — can make a big difference in how we feel. It reflected Humphry Davy School’s continued commitment to building a supportive, healthy, and open environment for all its students.
