Climate Change Conference at HDS

Posted on: 04/11/2019

Earlier this month, Humphry Davy School played host to an amazing Climate Change Conference, organised by Penwith Education Trust (of which HDS is a member).  With HDS’s amazing Mazey Day Orangutan keeping a watchful eye, students from primary and secondary schools in the Penwith area were invited to HDS to spend the day thinking about all things Climate Change and their commitment to the Green Charter.

The conference was opened and closed with an inspirational address from renowned speakers Chris Lubbe and Manda Brookman.  Students then split into groups to take part in workshops across the school which included thought provoking activities in art, science, cooking and music; all focusing on the issue of climate change.

Over lunchtime students were given the opportunity to visit ‘The Market Place’ where a collection of local organisations showcased engaging and colourful displays; sharing their response to the climate crisis. There were lots of opportunities for students to learn about what steps are already being taken locally, as well as advice on how to get involved and make a difference!

It was a great day filled with inspirational messages and everyone left feeling motivated to continue to make a change.
