SUCCESSFUL CENTENARY LAUNCH FOR HUMPHRY DAVY SCHOOL
Humphry Davy School successfully launched its Centenary Year last Saturday 23rd January, with an open afternoon which saw some 300 former pupils, visitors and friends joining in the celebrations.
The Centenary milestone, marking 100 years of education at the Coombe Road site, saw an afternoon of music, memories and reunions. A tree was planted by Old Penwithians, Andrew Coak and Jimmy Glover, along with Mr Marshall representing Humphry Davy School; past and present marking the start of the school's new century.
Among those visiting to swap memories, meet old friends and re-live school days was Mr Hosken who started at the County Grammar School, as it was then, in 1930.
Humphry Davy School looks forward to hosting a number of very special events celebrating its place in the heart of the local community and is currently gearing up to host the focal point of Penwith's week-long singing festival in March. The Big Sing, featuring choirs from across Penwith, the Mousehole Male Voice Choir and the 'Humphry Davy Big Big Band' will take place on Thursday 18 March 2010.
