Reflecting the popularity of the school and growth in student numbers, the Governing Body seek confident, nurturing and inspirational leaders committed to the welfare and achievement of the students in the school.  Under the direction of the Deputy Headteacher the successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the following:

  • To promote the ethos and expectations of the school, creating ‘a sense of belonging’ and cultivating an environment where students feel safe and valued for who they are.
  • To establish a House identity through a planned programme of sporting and academic activities, in addition to charitable and fund-raising work
  • To contribute to securing excellent progress and well being of students in the House.

Humphry Davy is a truly comprehensive community in which every child is cared for, supported and stretched. The school has a long-standing well-deserved reputation for its caring approach that values individuals and an ethos which encourages, supports and develops students of all abilities. The challenge is to ensure the standard of care never falls, whilst student outcomes continue to rise.

The role is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills at our popular and over-subscribed school in beautiful West Cornwall. Ofsted (Short Inspection November 2016) judged the school as ‘good’ stating, “Across the school we found that pupils were very keen to learn.  Pupils we spoke with enjoy coming to school and feel that they are making good progress.  Pupils are well-mannered and keen to tell visitors how good the school is and how it keeps them safe”.

I hope very much that the information we provide, together with our website, will give you all you require to make an application and give you a sense why Humphry Davy School is currently oversubscribed and a fabulous place to work.
