Lantern Making

Posted on: 10/11/2019

A group of year 7 art students started the Christmas season with a morning of crafting! The keen young artists were joined by volunteers from the National Trust to create their very own Christmas Lanterns.

Using withy and tissue paper the students were given the opportunity to work with a new media and experiment with sculpting techniques. Everyone had great fun building their own lanterns, opting for purple colouring and starry patterns to fit with the theme of space. The students displayed brilliant teamwork by assisting each other in their efforts to bring their vision to life.

The final outcomes were displayed in Trengwainton Gardens as part of their lantern walk. The students’ work was truly stunning and certainly stood out against the night sky.

Well done everyone!
