Parent Governor Vacancy

Vacancy for a Parent Governor on the Governing Body of Humphry Davy School

The term of office of one of our parent governors has come to an end and we are advertising the resulting vacancy. Further information and a nomination form are available on the school website or from reception.

We are fortunate at Humphry Davy to have a hard working and enthusiastic team of governors, and I am writing to ask you to consider whether you, or someone you know, would be willing to join us. The closing date for nominations is Friday 20 January 2017 (by 12 noon).

The governing body's main tasks are:

  • to ensure that the school has a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • to hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its students;
  • to oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

You do not need to have previous experience of governance or the education sector to be a parent governor. Governors contribute a wide range of skills and experience gained from their working, volunteering or parenting lives and we welcome anyone with commitment and enthusiasm for contributing to the positive development of the school. New governors are given induction training and support, and all Governors are encouraged to access training to develop their knowledge and skills in the role.
