At Humphry Davy School, we have a long standing and well-deserved reputation for the nurture and care of all our students. By overcoming barriers to learning, we support individuals’ needs to enable them to flourish and maximise their life chances. Our curriculum is inclusive, and we provide opportunity for participation in all aspects of school life.

It is our duty to provide equal opportunities for every child in our care; we continuously strive to ensure total access to our setting’s environment, curriculum and information, and full participation in the school and wider community.

We adopt a 'whole school approach' to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). All staff work to ensure inclusion; personalisation is one of our core values. We are committed to achieving excellence to ensure that students with SEND achieve their full potential and achieve optimal educational outcomes; we work closely with students, parents and carers and professionals to make sure this happens.

We are an accredited ‘Dyslexia Friendly School’ 2022. This status recognises our ‘whole-school’ approach and adherence to a model of excellent practice. In addition to our ‘Dyslexia Friendly Inclusive School’ status, Humphry Davy School has two Dyslexia Champions and an Autism Champion who have received specialist training in supporting the needs of students with dyslexia and autism in a mainstream school setting.
