Fighting for Fair Funding of Cornwall Schools

Parents and friends of the school may well have seen in the news that I was in the privileged position this week of representing Cornwall Headteachers in presenting a letter to the Chancellor of the Exchequer regarding fairer funding for schools nationally. The debate generated nationally and the profile afforded in the media has raised awareness of the inequities of the current and proposed future system, but it was somewhat unfortunate that the Brexit vote and the story breaking of alleged historical inappropriate conduct in 10 Downing Street resulted in missed opportunities to appear on 'Good Morning Britain' and meeting the chancellor directly.

I am incredibly grateful to Derek Thomas MP who took time out of his schedule to meet and discuss the issues and explore how Cornwall schools can be supported going forward. I am not aware of any other MP meeting with any of the 25 Local Authorities represented on the day and together we are hopeful of opportunity to discuss Headteacher concerns directly with the Chancellor at a future date. The children of Cornwall are entitled to the same level of investment as any where else in the country and Headteachers will continue the 'Worth Less' campaign in the hope of addressing the historical inequity that the government has stated it also wishes to abolish. I will endeavour to update the community with our progress.
