Scholars' Trip To Royal Welsh College Of Music & Drama
The HDS Music Scholars travelled to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, on the 25th November to experience a ‘day in the life’ at one of Britain’s top music conservatoires.
The group left the school at 5.30am arriving at the college shortly after 10am. The scholars were then fortunate to be given talks by the Senior Lecturer in Music and the Head of Acting before being taken on a tour of the college campus and facilities by one of the current students there.
The facilities were fantastic and inspiring to our scholars! One scholar even got the chance to play on one of the College's Steinway Grand pianos (worth approximately £100,000!!).
After lunch the scholars were treated to a concert given by the Brass and Percussion students in the Dora Stoutsker Concert Hall (part of the College's 22.5 million pound renovation).
To conclude our time at the college we were given a talk by the Head of Student Experience and Services before our scholars were given the opportunity to do some sight-seeing of the city before we departed Cardiff for the journey home.
An inspiring, educational, rewarding and enjoyable time was had by all!
