Former Head Girl Awarded Prestigious Engineering Scholarship
Molly Wilkin, who was Head Girl at HDS last year, has, with the help and support of the Applied Learning department, recently been awarded an Arkwright Scholarship for engineering.
Molly had to take a rigorous written test and then attend an interview in London. She was successful and was awarded her certificate by the President of the Engineering and Technology Council at an awards ceremony near St Paul's Cathedral earlier this month. She has now been sponsored by Network Rail and recently attended a two day course in Coventry with them, which she really enjoyed. She will be linked with a local mentor who will arrange more work experience opportunities.
This is a fantastic opportunity for Molly and she would urge anyone who has an interest in engineering to look into applying to the Arkwright Trust for this support. HDS is keen to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects and will give pupils the help and guidance that they need.
